The Hotel B1 is the perfect choice for those looking for a budget hotel in Berlin, Germany, thanks to its low rates, its good quality service and ideal location in the green areas encircling the German capital. From here, you can easily reach the city center by driving your own car or by taking advantage of the wide variety of public transport close by. You will be pleasantly surprised by the modern decor and the huge range of amenities available at this convenient Berlin accommodation! The B1 Hotel is ideal for tourists that want to relax in a suburban location, well connected to the city, as well as business travelers that will appreciate the proximity to the Berliner Ring, the highway that encircles the German capital and that guarantees fast access to the city’s financial and industrial centers. A grandiose European capital! With its large avenues and iconic landmarks, Berlin’s architecture is guaranteed to leave you feeling overwhelmed and impressed. The city’s most famous sight is undoubtedly the Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburger Tor), a former city gate that has been restored to its original splendor after suffering extensive damage during World War II. It has a notable recent historic importance, being right at the border between West and East Berlin during the times of the Cold War. It was also used as a famous checkpoint that separated the British sector of the city from the Soviet-administered area. From the gate you can access the famous Unter den Linden avenue, a boulevard that is named after the lime (linden) trees that line the grassed pedestrian mall between two carriageways. The Potsdamer Platz, a major traffic intersection and important public square in the center of the city, is also well worth visiting. After being completely abandoned during the Soviet occupation, it has been redeveloped and is now a buzzing center of business and leisure. Companies such as Deutsche Bahn and Sony are headquartered here and the world famous Berlin Film Festival takes place in the square as well. Sports fans will be impressed by the Olympiastadion, recently renovated to host the finals of the World Cup. Berlin Delight! Now that you are walking around the streets of Berlin you can’t miss out on trying a tasty Currywurst, a specialty that is appreciated by locals and tourists alike. This fast food meal is made up of pork sausages cut into slices and savored with curry sauce and powder. It is frequently served at German Imbissbuden (snack stands) and in kiosks on the streets. It has such a great importance to Germans that a museum was opened in 2009 to celebrate this Berlin delicacy! The city has even more savory dishes to offer, the most notable being lobster, rabbit and rolled saddle. The Italian and Turkish communities have also had a huge influence on Berlin’s cuisine, so why not try a pizza or a döner kebab?
