Hotel Bristol Republique Paris  

Hotel Bristol Republique I would happily recommend to a friend. Or anyone for that matter. Sure, the room won't win any interior decorator prizes, the decor has not been updated since perhaps the late 60's, but who the heck goes to Paris to spend the whole time in the hotel room?What it does have going for it is a pretty decent location. Located right beside the "Place de la Republique", you can walk 40 mins up "Boulevard de Magen", grab a bottle of wine and sit on the steps of the Sacre Couer and watch the sunset, and the people gather. Or, 20 minutes walk heading down "Rue du Temple" will land you right on the doorstep of Notre Dame, and as you carry on walking along the Seine you'll hit "The Louvre", "Musee D'Orsay" and "The Eiffel Tower" to name just a few. Of course if your feet get a bit tired from the walking, the metro stop "Republique" is a mere 50 metres from the Hotel entrance, extremely handy as it is on the "Number 5, Orange Line", which quickly and easily connects with other lines to get around.If you are traveling Ryan Air, it is quite far away, and a bit of a mission to get to. But that is only because the airport itself is outside of Paris, which makes Paris itself a bit of a mission to get to.If you take the bus from the airport to "Port Maillot", you'll then need to find your way to the nearest Metro (Port Dauphine, Line 2, Blue), which can be a bit hard to find without a map, or a geographic understanding... ("Ou est...)The other option is to take a shuttle into the town of Beauvais itself, and catch a commuter train down to "Gare du Nord", where you can transfer straight onto the metro line, no stumbling about above ground trying to get your bearings... But bare in mind that the train in Beauvais only runs every hour, so you may miss it, or end up waiting around for a bit. All in all the thing that Hotel Bristol Republique has going for it is the friendly, very-competent-in-English-staff, and the location. Plus there is the most amazing traditional patisserie right outside (closed saturday and sunday ftw?). For light-sleepers and raging alcoholics there is an all night pub 50 metres down the street... But hey, after a day walking around Paris, I was so tired I could have slept with a brass band outside my window.So if you are looking for the Ritz, go somewhere else. If you are looking for a place to hang your weary boots after a day spent exploring and gallivanting around an amazing city, here's as good as any.

Although the hotel and rooms could have been cleaner it was totally satisfactory for a couple of nights stay. The Metro was 200 yards away with 5 connections making it perfect to get anywhere in Paris.Will definitely recommend and stay there again for short trips.
