Hostal Ivor Madrid  

Right in the city centre. Two main metros nearby! All the staffs were friendly and would help at anytime needed. Air-conditioned! Wi-fi internet was fast as well. All the basic necessities were all there in the room. The only downside was the entry to the hotel. You will have to ring the bell for someone to open the door for you.

This hostel is the cheapest in the area of Madrid's center. A very good situation. A little noise at the morning. Well equiped and good staff. I recommend.

Pros: It was extremely easy to find following the directions from the website. the hotel is very clean, very pleasant staff and its location is ideal. two minute walk to the plaza mayor and two minutes walk either to sol or opera metro stations. we were delighted with the hotel and would stay there again.

Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful and were able to speak english, which was a relief as my spanish is basic. the location is absolutely ideal - 5 mins from plaza mayor, 5 mins from royal palace, a few minutes from puerta del sol, 5 minutes from gran via and the best of madrid was in walking distance. also, despite the hotel being on a busy street it was very quiet. it was a minute from the metro station, which again was ideal.
Cons: Initially my girlfriend and i were given a room with 2 single beds despite us booking a double. however, on request this was immediately changed and we got the room we had selected. i did request a room with a 'courtyard view' but neither of the rooms we were in had this option.

Pros: It is in the very hart of downtown madrid in a walking street with a plenty of cafees, restaurants, shops and even a supermarket in walking distance.
Cons: The sound isolation between the rooms are minimal: you can listen what the other guest is speaking (or snooring) in the next room. there was only one chair in our small double bed room. the hosta ivor is acceptable for 1 or 2 nights, but not a comfortable place for staying there for longer. there isn't any service (even a coffe machine) in the whole hostel.

Pros: Fabulous location and views from the balconies. very clean and secure. large rooms with fridge, aircon, bathrooms with bath and shower, double glazing and balconies. 24/7 reception.
Cons: Rooms were great and location perfect, but no other facilites in the hostal, but restaurants very close.

Cons: Not a negative for me, but worth noting it's on a busy and sometimes noisy road.

Pros: Excellent service, clean rooms and very secure. i would highly recommend this hostal as it is better than some of the three star hotels i have previously used whilst visiting madrid.

Pros: Hotel was very central but also quiet. friendly and efficient staff. we asked for a change of room with a balcony and they transferred us straightaway, also supplied hairdrier, extra pillow, changed faulty remote control within 10 minutes of asking. hotel also open 24 hours, which was an advantage on new year's eve! rooms cleaned very well and of a good standard for a hostal. we definitely recommend it and would stay there again if we go back to madrid.
