Pros: Perfekte lage:
+ weniger als 5 minuten fußweg zur zug-station zum flughafen
+ der cable car fährt nur ca 150 meter entfernt vorbei (perfekt um abends vom fishermans wharf wieder heimzukommen und sich eine einige-blocks-wanderung zu ersparen)
+ einen block vor china town haupteingang
+ einen block zum union square
+ star bucks, 7eleven etc direkt um die ecke
+ personal war freundlich
+ kein luxushotel, aber ordentliches zimmer, perfekt um die stadt 2-3 tage zu erkunden

Pros: Hilfsbereites personal und eine ausgezeichnete lage mitten in san francisco
Contras: Der teppich war total abgewohnt, die fenster ließen sich nicht dicht abschließen, das fenster zeigt in einen lüftungsschacht, es gab schaben im hotel und in den zimmern.

The rooms are super simple: a not so great bed, no phone, no cable, etc. And the bathrooms are shared with everyone on the hall. If you stay by yourself and just need the cheapest room available, this is do-able. Just bring earplugs, as the elevator and other doors on the hall can be noisy. But overall, this is not a great place.

Excellent location- surrounded by designer boutiques and just around the corner from union square. Most hotels in this kind of area go for more than 200 a night so this was good value. Obviously the rooms here are basic, but you still get everything you need- water pressure and temperature is excellent. The morning reception guy is really nice and helpful!

If you pay this little to stay in the centre of town you are not expecting luxury. The rooms are a little spartan (hence the low rating), but they have all you need and are clean. the shared bathrooms, too, are clean and nearby. The staff were uniformly pleasant and welcoming and went out of their way to help this visitor not get lost, etc. Not too noisy (I stayed for 5 nights) at all...Personally I can't bear the plushness of your Hiatt's and Hilton's - they make me queasy with their cringing efforts to be regal and tasteful - here I got what I paid for, no more, no less, and felt safe and comfortable.

The Park Hotel is by no means fancy, but it is exceptional value for money and in an absolutely fantastic location (just seconds from Union Square, tons of great shops and restaurants and public transport). Rooms are a little basic but always spotlessly clean (and having a fridge in each rom is really handy). The kitchen is a real bonus, it's great to be able to get yourself hot drinks and make breakfast without having to eat out for every single meal.The staff are fantastic, I wish I'd remembered to get the name of the guy on reception because he was exceptional. We arrived early in the day after a very early flight and when we arrived at the hotel to see if we could drop our bags off he saw we were tired and let us have our rooms straight away rather than wait until the regular check in time. He gave us loads of great advise about places to visit, was always on hand to show us the best bus routes and was all round friendly and kind.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back to the Park Hotel. My only caution would be that if you are a light sleeper, ask for a room towards the back of the hotel as the street below the front is quite busy.

Pros: The location was wonderful....right in the heart of downtown and the neighborhood felt safe in the daytime and early evening. parking garage was right across the street. the hotel room was clean.
Cons: Our room was on the 4th floor and faced sutter street. traffic noises kept us awake most of the night. then if the traffic and sirens weren't bad enough in the middle of the night a generator comes on right below our window and someone starts to hose off the sidewalk. there were no blackout curtains so the lights from the businesses shine through brightly all night. if you are hoping to get a good nights sleep don't stay at this hotel.

Pros: The manager was very freindly informative and helpful.
Cons: The rooms were awful and in need of updating although they were probably clean the bedding and carpet was so old as to look very grubby. the whole atmosphere was very depressing
