Description
Built in 1900, the Eden Amsterdam American Hotel is a listed art nouveau monument, and some architectural features can be traced back in the famous Café Américain and guest rooms. The Eden Amsterdam American Hotel is the best located hotel in Amsterdam: in the middle of the Leidseplein. The hotel has adopted a modern lifestyle philosophy to offer you a truly unique stay. You are invited to enjoy your stay with all your senses.
The hotel has a fitness and sauna that are free accessible for hotel guests. Opening hours are between 06:30 and 23:00 hours. The hotel has six floors with a total of 175 guest rooms, of which 15 are American Junior Suites and 36 are Deluxe rooms, most of which have canal or Leidseplein views or a balcony. The entire hotel is non-smoking floors. The hotel and the guestrooms are well air-conditioned.
Check-in time is at 3 pm and the only way to guarantee an early arrival is to reserve the room for the night before. Check-out time is at 12 noon and if you would like to keep the room longer than 12 noon there will be an automatic charge of EUR 25.00 per room per hour, excluding 5% city tax, until 4 pm. After 4 pm the hotel's daily room rate will apply.

The 36 Deluxe American non-smoking rooms measure 30 to 35 m² and are located throughout the building. Some offer panoramic views over one of Amsterdam's canals or the Leidseplein. Some of these larger rooms feature a separate sitting area and can have a balcony.

Nice and clean and very generous room to stay.My first time in amsterdam and i told the receptionist,so i expected to get a nice room in the front to see the canal. instead i was given a room at the back looking at some horrible views of other rooms. and finally, i arrived in the hotel carrying my 30kgs suitcase, no one helped me to check in and on check out, i asked for someone to help me to carry my luggage down, no porter, no one came, so i have to carry my heavy luggage again. i travel a lot, 6-7 times a year overseas, and i wasn't impress with the service i got from eden shame as it was a very nice hotel in the heart of the city. This is our second visit; we love being on the canal. the leidensplein area is very intense, so it's not for everyone. being on the canal side, our room was very quiet. the cafe americain is a beautiful, historic place.We missed having a little table on the veranda and the new chairs are sturdy, but not as pictoresque as the cafe type we experiences a few yrs. ago; the exterior (at least at the 5th fl level) needs a little sprucing up, but these things are minor. we'd stay there again, any time.Anonymous

Though centrally located this hotel is very quiet. the only noise one might hear at night time is the siren of the emergency services. staff are friendly and approachable. this is our third time staying in the hotel in as many years.Mulholland

We could not have stayed in a better hotel - we were in amsterdam for the first time and wanted a hotel with character, not a faceless, corporate hotel - the amerstam american is beautiful, the staff are extremely friendly and the jazz brunch on sunday (book in advance) was just a perfect finish to a perfect weekend. we had a complimentary room upgrade to the room connected to the mata hari suite - would definitely recommend it for honeymooners/mature travellers, couples/romantics - you feel whisked away to another era. will definitely stay there again.Devine, Kirk
