Description
A friendly, non smoking, family hotel located in the city centre of Amsterdam, with the Rijks- & Van Goghmuseum nearby and the famous Amsterdam nightlife within walking distance.
The hotel is located in a building built in 1892, but has been completely renovated and equipped with all modern conveniences, whilst retaining its friendly atmosphere. A shuttle bus from Schiphol Airport is charged at EUR 13.50 one way (2007).
Although fully renovated and restored, and including a lift in the main building, the 19th-century building maintains much of its original character and has a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. This also means we can offer a unique range of accommodation, from more economical basic rooms right through to luxury en-suite. Children are welcome (we can provide cots and high-chairs).
All our rooms are equipped with television, telephone and safe, and hairdryers and kettles are available from the reception.
At reception there is an internet-terminal, which is available for our hotel guests.
Please note that this hotel doesn't accept group bookings of 7 people or more. However, it is possible to request a group booking at this hotel via our group department(groups@easytobook.com).

How to reach the hotel?From Schiphol Airport you can also take the train to Central Station.
By tram:
From Central Station, take tram 16, 24 or 25 and get off at the stop Wetering Circuit (Wetering Circle). Walk round the left-hand side of the roundabout and turn left before the Carrousel Pancake Restaurant. Walk through the little park directly into the Den Texstraat where the hotel is situated on you right-hand side.
By car:
From The Hague (Den Haag) From the A4, take the Ring Road A 10 around Amsterdam, and go West towards Zaandam, follow turn-off for the S 106. This road takes you to the S 100, where you turn left at the Heineken Brewery.
From Utrecht from the A 2, follow this highway straight into Amsterdam. Keep following the direction ''Centrum'' until you get to the exit S 100, which you take to the left (Stadhouderskade) and then turn right at the Heineken Brewery.
From Hilversum, Amersfoort, from the A 1, take by Amsterdam the circular road A 10 for the turn-off to the S 112. Follow the direction "Centrum". This road takes you to the S 100, where you turn left at the Heineken Brewery.
Immediately At the Heineken Brewery (where there is a sign for the Hotel) go over the bridge to the roundabout and directly take the first street on your right (by the Carrousel Pancake Restaurant). The first street on your left is the Den Texstraat. N.B. This is a one-way street.

The breakfast was great, it saves time not having to find breakfast everymorning, specially if your not from the area.

The room was very clean and the hotel felt like it was in a safe area...other people that i met along my travels in amsterdam said that they recommend hotel asterisk to othersBreakfast could get difficult, as for some reason hotel asterisk has reserved tables for breakfast, which is not proper to do considering it holds up the table for the entire morning. the hotel is not fancy enough to have reserved tables. when we tried to sit in the lounge area which is just feet away from the breakfast bar, we were swiftly told to get out and put at a table with others which made them quite uncomfortable. for the money, the hotel was a bit too expensive for what you got. there were lines/ques for the shower every morning and they were not kept as clean as they could. glad i brought flipflops for the showers.Peer Nicki Lausen

The staff was informative and helpful. the room was tiny (in us standards), but clean and the beds comfortable. it was very close to the art museums, which was our main focus.The building we stayed in did not have an elevator, and the steps were very steep. it took a little work to haul up my suitcase. i was traveling with my young adult daughter, so she carried the bag up for her fifty year old mother!Anonymous

The hotel staff were so friendly and so helpful and so nice and so warm! i can't say enough good things about them!! the room was really comfortable and cosy too. Nothing negative, except that it's not exactly smack right in the centre of the action but you can walk to the rijksmuseum from the hotel and also the heineken museum, and there are three trams (16, 24, 25) right by the hotel that come seriously every minute. i never had to wait for a tram and had no difficulty navigating around amsterdam. In lovely district within easy walking distance of the centre, excellent informative staff on arrival.Breakfasat was between 7.30-9.30 we found this to be far too early!
