Description

Whether you are young and wild or young at heart, you will enjoy your stay at Hotel Damrak while visiting the many attractions in walking distance. We are currently renovating our 36 rooms one by one to make your stay more pleasant. Our staff is available 24 hours a day during your stay and will be glad to assist you in almost all matters. Breakfast is served between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. at our Argentinian restaurant.

Please note: reservations of 3 rooms and more are considered a group. Group bookings can be cancelled 2 weeks before arrival date without any charge!

From Amsterdam Central Station, walk along the main street (Damrak) in the direction of Dam Square. The hotel is halfway on your right hand side.

*How do I get to the Hotel Damrak by public transport? :

1) From SCHIPHOL AIRPORT: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the Airport to Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the Central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2)

2) From CENTRAL STATION: You dont have take the tram, you can walk to the hotel +/- 5 min. the trams in Amsterdam are running normaly from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM

The location of the hotel is fantastic. very central to everything.
Where to start.....the description of the hotel stated that the room would have air-conditioning. it did but it only heated up the room, not cooled it down. considering it was quite warm and the room only had a small window with no access to a breeze, this made being in the room very uncomfortable. the room itself was old, dirty, smelt like sewerage and the bed linen clearly had bugs or lice of some description. the room was so bad that we had to purposely stay out of the hotel,dreading the thought of coming back to sleep for a couple of hours because it was so bad. and my friend now has a rash due to the conditions of the room-great way to start the holiday. while breakfast was included in the room price, we should have been paid some form of compensation for having to suffer through it. the breakfast selection was quite limited with the storage of the food being quite poor. the cheese was sweating and the cold cuts and vegetables were left uncovered for anywhere up to 3 hours in the heat. to our delight we were offered the "dregs" of the coffee before a new pot would be made. the staff were ok, except the receptionist who has lived most of her life in amsterdam was most unhelpful and couldn't give us the right directions to anything. the afternoon receptionist was quite nice but as she had only been in amsterdam for 6 months, her knowledge was quite limited. to top it all off, we found a mouse in the hallway that lead to our room. only stay at this hotel if you don"t mind lice and/or plan on sleeping in the street.

Very nice staff and the room was also clean. i cant complain about anything
The only negativ thing to say about the hotel, is the poor view from the window, and it was also quite warm in the hotel room. there could be a fan or something in the room.

We stayed for three nights in a four bed room and had no problems whatsoever. i would recommend this for the budget traveller who wants to be close to all the action.
Only one room key between four of us.

Excellent area, very near dam central
Room was very hot and unfortunately had to borrow the rceptionists fan as they didn't have any others and one memebr of staff said he would have one put in our room before we returned from our day out. i thought the room was very highly priced for what it was.

Window only open 5cm due to security reason, so the room was really hot and could not get any fresh air. would not recommend to staying this hotel during summer time.

More than we expected. beautiful view with a top level balcony in the choice of our quad room.
The breakfast was warm milk, cereal, ham, cheese, hard boiled egg, and orange juice. i recommend going out for breakfast even though it is included.

Fantastic location, the room was a decent size and although the bathroom was on the small size the bath and shower were clean.
No air-conditioning made the room really hot, there were no tea/coffee facilities which would have been appreciated. also the breakfast was poor, luckily there was a full english for 5euro just down the road! apparently no food was allowed to be taken in the rooms as well. . .

Excellent value for money, 4 bed room was good size, 3 bed room slightly more cramped but everything we needed. close to dam square, bars and restaurants. rooms were clean - that was the main thing!!

The hotel should be 1 star, because of its extremly dirty rooms. but the location and the "cheap breakfeast" makes it a 3 star i guess. wouldn't stay here again if they don't renovate the rooms and uppgrade the lame housekeepers.

The location is great and all staff were more than willing to assist and help whenever i needed it.
The safe in the room was broken which made me feel less than secure regarding my passport, etc. there were some sort of water pipes that went through the closet that howelled and made constant noise. this made sleeping very difficult. there is no maintenance staff after a certain time to ensure that the halls are cleaned (mine was full of litter all night). i would have to think hard if i would stay there again especially for over 100 euros a night. they market themselves as a 3 star property, but by north american standards it would be lucky to get 1 star.

The lift was out of order for more than 24 hours. my room was on the 5th floor and had to use the stairs. no help from hotel staff with the luggage.
