Hotel de Stern is located very centrally, next to the Rembrandt Square. It is also close to the Rijks Museum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Amsterdam Hermitage, the Stedelijk Museum and the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam's famous concert hall). Very clean, friendly staff for a budget hotel i was expecting worse but it basic and just what you need to sleep in after night out on town.
The stairs very steep but so are most staircases in amsterdamMarshall

It does wat it says on the tin very good place to stay 15 mins from dam square the staff cant be any more helpful if they tried was very impressed overall would recomend anyone up for a great weekend stay hereKallare

Nothing to write home about. but value for money. we were just looking for a place to sleep for the nite and this place was fine for that. clean bathroom.Would not stay here for too long. tv wasnt working. it is impossible to negotiate the steps with any kind of luggage - make sure you book this hotel only if you have no luggage.Chris Miller

Yes- the staff were very friendly and welcoming.Unfortunately as it is above a kebab shop, you do get more flies than you may in such a climate- bring the spray!Anonymous

At the end of the day you get what you pay for so don't have any expectations of grandeur. its central location is excellent and if you like kebabs then you're in for a treat as its actually located directly above one. if you're after somewhere to lay your head and wash then this will be ok but if you desire anything more than you'll need to be prepared to dig deeper into those pockets of yours.There were 2 of us sharing a room with one towel and a bath mat to share. don't try and sit down on the trap unless you have legs as short as jimmy kranky. The hotel de stern was a great place to stay, the staff were very friendly & helpful. the room we stayed in was a great size and clean. the location was brilliant and central enough to be able to walk to all types of entertainment. All of amsterdam is being renovated so expect noise wherever you stay.Mr Guy Baker

What a welcoming staff! they upgraded our room and were very eager to please.5th floor walk up, bed bugs feasted on me, the bed was lifted off the carpet by random used machine parts (water pump etc.), head board was not fixed to anything and kept falling down on us, there is quite a bit of construction going on at the 8 story building across the street cranes & jackhammers were our alarm clock... but the staff was really niceAnonymous

Fab location and cool, friendly staff! they allow smoking in the rooms too if you want to! would def recommend for young people, for a convenient location to walk in to the centre and who just need a place to crash for the night! cheap and cheerful but that's all you need as most time is spent out and about!Anonymous

The hotel is located minutes away from almost every tourist attraction (excellent location). the rooms are clean and the staff is very helpful. it has been a nice accommodation.
