The Amsterdam Downtown Hotel is located at the city center of Amsterdam. The hotel is located nearby Leidseplein which is the centre of fun and nightlife in Amsterdam. Within walking distance are restaurants, cafés, shops, Holland Casino, the flower market, the business district and the museums like the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum.
The hotel is recently renovated. Every room at the hotel has a shower, toilet, cable TV and is easy to reach with the elevator. This hotel is a non-smoking hotel and offers a lounge, TV room and free wireless Internet access in the entire building. How to reach the hotel?*How do I get to the hotel by public transport? :
1) From SCHIPHOL AIRPORT: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the Airport to Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the Central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2)
2) From Central Station: Take tram 1, 2 or 5 and stop at the Keizersgracht. Take the street on your right hand side and you are at the Kerkstraat.

Great location, local public transport gets you everywhere. very safe and secure, the staff is great and insures that all of your property and room is very safe. as well, i checked out and wanted to leave my belongings, including a very expensive video camera and they put it in a very safe place to insure it's safety. the staff is really great and informative.It's a typical amsterdam room that isn't in a major hotel. small, small, small, don't expect any frills. if you are used to staying in a major hotel with all the amenities, this isn't it.Archambeaud

The hotel staff was very kind and helpful. they provided us with informations about the town and kept our bags after we checked out while we were still in town. rooms vere quite small but had own bathroom and toilet. got the impression hotel was renovated recently, very clean and tidy rooms and other facilities. nice breakfast served at the suitable hours. elevator in use. great location near the cantral part of the town but on the quiet street. i would definitely stay at the hotel next time i visit amsterdam. Good location. few minutes walk from leidseplein and all the bars and restaurants there. easy enough to walk to all the tourist sights in the area as well. i even walked back and forth to the train station. it is a healthy walk but not impossible if you are under 45 years old. wireless internet was sketchy on the upper floors but worked well down in the basement where the restaurant and tables were.Single room was really small. just enough room for a bed, my bag and a bathroom. clean but small.Holland

Excellent location. modern hotel.clean room.the room had been changed around i guess to give more space, but it meant the lights and tv were in wrong location to beds. the tv wasnt in english. the breakfast was basic bread, ham,cheese and only had a 2slice toaster for everyone to use. however it was clean and modern. the waldrobe was very small only could hang 3items. the room extremelly small for 4people,had to put suitcases on beds!Room right at top of hotel, had to walk 2flights of steep steps to room after getting the lift 3 flights. the shower and toilet was so smelly we complained but the staff spoke very little english and the hotel was full. the air con was hardly worth putting on!! as it wasnt very powerful.Merkulovich

Very nice staff,couldnt ask for a better breakfast, everything fresh and clean.the best location.the elevator is working although there is no need-only a few floors.they change toules every day.The walls are too thin and it depends on your neighbours how noisy it would be.Anonymous

Location was the best. Intermittent internet, usually not working, one staff member in particular was cranky everyone else was helpful. when i did crack one window open in my warm, but lovely room, i was eaten by mosquitoes since there was no screen. Anonymous

This is a great hotel. the hotel has just been completely refurbished, the rooms are very clean, comfortable basthrooms, breakfast is excellent, friendly staff etc. my friends and i ordered a quad room, and after our first night we were happily moved to a bigger room for 5 people, with no extra charge! and finally, one of the best locations in town between downtown and leidesplein.At times, my friends and i felt the staff were a little intimidating, but always very nice :)

Most of the staff were friendly, and i loved the two resident cat's. the location was great as it was close to everything you'd want and close enough to the centratl part of town that walking everywhere wasn't a problem.The elevator failed the day after i had checked in and never was fixed, which made the it very inconvienent as i was put on the top floor. then the mechanism on the door tomy room that automatically shuts it came off and it took 3 days to fix it, so it was hard to open, and it was gouging into the wall. the door would open just a little bit and made it dangerous as it was right on the stair well and one cold have easily fallen down those stairs trying to enter the room. the window didn't open much so it was usually uncomfortable for me as i like it cool and to have fresh air. adlso the construction is not such that noise outside the room is deadened so when anyone walked the stairs or talked in the halls you'd hear them. also if your room was on a lower floor with others above, as i was the first night, you hear the people above walking around in thier room as well.
