The Hortus is famous for its lounge where you can watch Big Screen TV featuring SKY&ESPN Sports channel, listen music, play a game of pool or just sit back relax and chat to other travellers and make new friends.We offer internet, FREE tea & coffee all day, FREE blankets, sheets and towels and NO curfew.Also we now offer a bike rental service,if you wish to reserve a bicycle just let us know. How can a guest reach the hotel by public transport from the airport?From central station
Take TRAM 9 and get out at the 7th stop. Once you get out cross the street and turn RIGHT and walk back in the direction you just came. At the first street turn LEFT this is our street, and we are number 8 on the left.
You can also take the metro(underground),from central station you can take any metro. You must get out at the 2nd stop (WATERLOO PLEIN/ NIEUWE HERENGRACHT). Once you exit the metro turn RIGHT and follow the sign NIEUWE HERENGRACHT. Once you have come to the top walk towards the exit and turn RIGHT walk along the road until you come to another street (There is also a small park there). Turn LEFT this is also our street, walk along until you come to nr.8 (it will now be on the right).

The hotel was typical of the area. noyhing fancy but a basic room with basic features. i would stay with hortus again. it was the only hostel we found in europe that served eggs for breakfast. Anonymous

There were a couple of very helpful staff who were more than happy to inform us of a place to eat and where they had had good experiences and how to get to various places.
There was a bucket under a leaking roof and the view from our room on the ground floor left much to be desired. the hotel was very simple more like a hostel but with private rooms really, you didn't get a towel and the breakfast was a bit minimal. no cereal unfortunately which was a big negative for me.
