Description

Hotel Nes is a 3-star hotel, located right in the centre of Amsterdam, close to Amsterdam's major attractions. The hotel is situated in a lovely monumental 19th century old canal building along the river Amstel and has 39 rooms with all kinds of facilities.

Hotel Nes has recently been renovated and re-decorated and some of the rooms have a beautiful view of the canals. The hotel offers rooms with private facilities like a bath or shower and toilet. Each room is fully equipped with a direct dial telephone, colour TV and many other facilities. The hotel has an elevator, lounge with fireplace, fax facilities and very pleasant and helpful staff.

Children under the age of 12 years can stay free of charge sharing the bedrooms of the parents. Dogs are allowed (on request) and the major credit cards are accepted.

How to reach the hotel? How to reach the hotel?
1) From Schiphol Airport: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the airport to Amsterdam Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2).

2) From Amsterdam Central Station: You can take tram nr. 4 or 24 from the square in front of the station to 'Muntplein'. From there you can walk to the hotel in approximately 4 minutes. The trams in Amsterdam are normally running from 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM.

The central location was the only positive thing about the hotel.
The receptionist was really rude and unfriendly. first, he checked me into a small single room then when i told him that it was too small for me he checked me into a double room. i was jet-lagged so i took it. 2 days later my friend checked in and he was given a larger room with a view which was a lot better than mine which was a box with no air. i was having breathing problems in there. then when i asked him why he had done so as there were hardly any guests in the hotel, he told me that i had "an attitude problem" and that "i should take my things and leave." this really infuriated me and i checked out that same time. the stay was upsetting. i will never stay in this hotel, and i will never recommend this to a friend or relative. i don't want them to get insulted by lowly staff in the hotel. horrible place!

Location is perfect, the rooms are small but clean and plenty of choice of food at breakfast. the hotel staff are friendly and speak very good english.
We were on one of the top floors and the bathroom ceiling slopes so the shower only comes to your shoulders and it's very difficult to wash your hair. our stay was over the queens day period and the noise from outside is very loud. the music stopped about 3am but the car horns went on until about 5am in the morning so didn't get much sleep.

Staff very helpful. breakfast well presented and staff at hand to provide anything extra needed. information about sightseeing also provided by staff, knowledgeable about what was asked.also well placed for getting to the station.

The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was of a good standard and the location was very central.
It seemed to be too expensive and i would have rated this hotel as a 2* and not a 3* as advertised. no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms, which i would have expected as standard in a 3* star hotel for the price that we paid.

Friendly staff. pleasantly surprised at how clean the hotel was after reading about all the other reviews of hotels in amsterdam that seemed to be so small, pokey and lacking security. breakfast was also substantial which was a bonus!nice decor and had an airy open plan feel. we were able to leave our bags there after checking out before we returned to airport.
Nothing, no hiccups, everything met our expectations!

Good location. brekfast ok. simple service.
Very small room. a lot of noice from hallway because of a gap under the door. a nice bar introduced on the net, but it is closed and nothing to do for guests in the lobby.

The location is excellent, within few mins from all the main attractions. the staff were excellent with me. there is a supermarket within 10 mins walk from the hotel, near waterlooplein station, and trams 4 and 24 stop at muntplein which is a 5 min walk from the hotel. breakfast is basic and the service is excellent.
The walls are very very very thin so it does matter who you stay next to! if you are after a room with a view - forget this hotel! although it is a 3-star hotel, i would say that i paid almost 200 pounds for a room the size of my bathroom at home, with no catering available at all (tea/coffee facilities in the room). also, only a few dutch tv channels are available free of charge, for all other channels about 10 euros are being charged, which confused some people at the reception. in england this hotel would be no more than a 2-star at best.

Excellent location, walking distance of everywhere that i wanted to go in the city centre. price was good compared to the other hotels available that weekend.
I paid for a basic hotel and that is what i got. few facilities and a tiny (i mean really tiny) room.

It was clean, and had a nice breakfast, staff were fine.
It was a small room with no decent view, there was no tea or coffee in the room.i thought it was a bit overpriced for what i got.however i would stay again if i couldnt find anywhere cheaper-as it was a safe option.

Breakfast only from 8 am poor amability of staff: i was said i didn't had to complain about breakfast time because it was "free". 20 min waiting time to be able to leave the hotel whan i was checking out because their paiement system was out of order, though i was very in a hurry.
