Description
Hostel Utopia is a combination of a hostel and a budget hotel in the center of Amsterdam.
Hostel Utopia is situated next to the famous Dam Square which is only five minutes walking distance from Amsterdam Central Station. Many restaurants, pubs, disco's, casinos and theatres are situated around this famous square.
There is no doubt that Hostel Utopia is an excellent starting point to discover most charms of Amsterdam. We also have a hostel owned coffee shop, which is the famous Coffee Shop Utopia downstairs.
Our multi-lingual hostel staff are well known for their very friendly service and they will make sure that your stay is as comfortable as possible, providing you with excellent excursion packages, out-of-the-city trips and bicycle/car rentals.

How to reach the hotel?How to reach the hotel
1) From SCHIPHOL AIRPORT: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the Airport to Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the Central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2)
2) From CENTRAL STATION: Tram 1, 2, 5 and 13 stop in front of the hotel, the first stop from Amsterdam Central Station. The trams in Amsterdam are running normally from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM.

I was very happy with my stay in hotel utopia. definitely the best thing is the excellent location, giving easy access to dam square, central station, red light district and shopping areas. nothing is a long walk away. the hotel staff were all very kind, friendly and helpful, the room was of course basic but clean and tidy, although we had a shared toilet for the floor (only between 4 rooms including ours, light always working and loo roll always present!) we did have a shower in our room which was a nice surprise. overall very happy with stay and would certainly be happy to stay there again. it's not luxury by any stretch of the imagination! but you get what you pay for, and for a cheap hotel this place is lovely. The stairway is very thin and un-even so if you have accessibility problems i don't think this place would be appropriate. there are no ground floor rooms. it also smells constantly of smoke, since it's above a coffeeshop this is really to be expected! for me, these points did not detract from my experience, but they could be an issue for others.Anonymous

Where do i start?? there was no hot water for 3 days and no offer of compensation, no one cared! there were mice (large mice, making large noises in the night!) and breakfast was a joke! compared to the other hostels i've stayed in and this was meant to be a bed and breakfast..... would not recommend in a million years! total disaster.Michelle Estep

Great location very close to many sites. the staff was very friendly. having a coffeeshop downstairs is nice. overall this hotel is okay, not the cleanest but certainly not dirty either. it is a good value during the week but when prices increase on the weekend i would look elsewhere.The breakfast that is included with the room is one croissant and one cup of coffee or tea, anything else must be paid for. also, it is usually not available until 10. the water heater broke while we were there so it was cold showers for a few days.LICARI LORENZO
