Description
Hotel Washington, formerly a large family house built at the beginning of the 20th century is now a full character, warm & friendly family hotel, located in the quiet but central Museum area.
The hotel’s hospitality and comfortable atmosphere will make you feel most welcome and many of our regular guests and tourists consider it their second home for a peaceful and quiet stay in Amsterdam.
A good Dutch breakfast is served: the best start to a day of exploring Amsterdam. We enjoy serving breakfast personally in our cosy breakfast room. Many of our regular guests find our breakfasts enjoyable because they discover that they are sharing our hotel with friends and colleagues.
In our lounge you will find an information desk offering sightseeing tips in and around Amsterdam. You can also borrow a guide book during your stay in Amsterdam.
The lounge is a good place to read a book or get some local advice from the hotel’s friendly staff on where to go, eat, and drink in Amsterdam.

The young & Trendy neighbourhood Called the Pijp is only 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel, here it is possible to visit the picturesque Albert Cuypmarket and the Heineken museum (The Heineken Experience).
The city centre (Leidseplein) which is the centre nightlife of Amsterdam is within 12 minutes walking distance, and you will find here the jazz bars, pubs and restaurants, the famous Leidsestraat where the shopping area begins and keeps on going till the Central Station.Other suggestions for an evening out are the Holland casino and the Comedy Club.
How to reach the hotel?1) From SCHIPHOL AIRPORT: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the Airport to Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the Central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2)
2) From CENTRAL STATION: Take city tram no. 5 from the square outside, direction Amstelveen and get off at the Concertgebouw / Museumplein. Continue walking on Van Baerlestraat to the same direction where the tram is going, and after 3 blocks turn left to Frans van Mierisstraat.the trams in Amsterdam are running normaly from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM

The hotel was very clean and had a homely feel. great security and easy to walk to museums and other tourist areas if you like to walk. it took us 35 mins to walk to some main site seeing areas but well worth the walk each day.I wish they had tea making facilities and that you could have had breakfast in your room. This is a great hotel for the money.the usual small room and steep stairs that are everywhere in amsterdam but the room was spotless and comfortable enough.the hotel is a bit old fashioned though that adds some charm and the staff are very efficient.breakfast is decent enough by dam standards.i've used many hotels in the dam now and would not hesitate to ise this one again if price was a factor.The hotel has no facilities,not even vending machines though they do make this clear i think.Wang

The room i stayed was big, bright and clear. it has a balcony as well! the location of the hotel was okay, closes to the tram station. However, there is no facilities to make drink (tea etc) in the room which is very inconvenience. the hotel also has a cat and my boy friend got a terrible allergy from it. Anonymous

Very polite & pleasant staff. very clean and pleasant room. Sound-proofing could be improved upon. conscious of people in next room and noisy people coming up the stairs late at night.
breakfast unsatisfactory. fresh fruit would have been welcome, and more toast as well, without having to ask staff. choices of teas limited.Anonymous
