Description
A clean, no-smoking family-run hotel suitable for families, romantic couples and business people alike. We are situated on a traffic-free square adjacent to one of Amsterdam’s oldest canals, and are just a short walk away from the major museums (the Rijk, the Van Gogh, and the Anne Frank House), the famous flower market, the shopping district, the flea market, two cinema complexes, and many fine restaurants and cafes. There is a 24-hour taxi stand and tram stop around the corner with trams to Central Station and to the RAI Convention Center. All rooms have been recently renovated and decorated to a standard far beyond that of a 2** hotel. But for the presence of a lift, the hotel would enjoy a 3*** Superior rating. All rooms are decorated differently, each in its own unique style and mood. This is done to create a cozy, comfortable and somewhat romantic environment similar to ones own home. Attention is given to cleanliness, attractive colors and fabrics, the quality of the bedding and furniture, and to the soundproofing of floors and windows. Each room has its own private bathroom with toilet, sink, cupboard space, and shower (most with a Jacuzzi shower). The bedrooms have cable TV, a safe, direct dialing telephone, and internet access either with the telephone or using WIFI. A hairdryer is available upon request. For a nominal fee, coffee and tea making facilities are also available. The room price includes all taxes and a buffet breakfast consisting of beverages, fruit, cereals, yogurt, meat, cheese, toast, bread and assorted condiments. Guests who pay their bill with credit card (VISA or MC – we do not accept AMEX) must pay a small surcharge: 3.6% for VISA, 3.3% for MC. There is no surcharge for cash payment. Guests checking in after 20:00 need to inform us on or before the day of arrival, or make a remark when booking. Reception closes at 20:00. On the morning of arrival, the guest must telephone us for the entry code and the room number; or, on the morning of the arrival, we can e-mail the guest this information.

How to reach the hotel?1) From SCHIPHOL AIRPORT: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the Airport to Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the Central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2)
2) From CENTRAL STATION: You can take tram: 4 and 9 from the square in front of the station to the Rembrandtplein. From there you can walk to the hotel +/- 1 min. the trams in Amsterdam are running normaly from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM

The staff at this hotel are very friendly and helpful. they have an innovative and user friendly door entry system where you flash your keycard at a picture next to your door. the room was very clean as was bathroom. the location just off the rembrandtplein is better than anywhere else in amsterdam to act as a base for exploring. shops, trams, everything within easy walking distance.At times i felt like i was intruding on a family home, but that's becasue it's a family run hotel and they live in it, so not really a negative comment!Anonymous

The room was clean and cosy - the bed was very comfortable. the bathroom was also clean and the jacuzzi shower went down a treat. the breakfast was a simple continental breakfast and was very tasty, (meat, cheese, cereals, toast, jams/honey, tea & coffee, fruit ...) it set me up for the day. the staff were friendly and informative and the hotel was in a good location, within walking distance to dam square, the museums & my favourite, the flower market. very close to the tram stop - which is ideal if you don't want to drag luggage halfway across amsterdam. i would highly recommend this hotel . thanks for a comfortable stay.It's not the fault of the imperial hotel but it is in a busy square and i am sure that if you was to get a room at the front of the hotel, you would hear the hussle and bussle of the street below. i wouldn't recommend this hotel to people with walking difficulties as the stairs are extremely steep and it was hard work dragging a heavy suitcase to the top floor! other than that everything was great. i had a really nice time.Sean Cronin

Found it a nice hotel to stay in for the weekend. was cheap and i just wanted somewhere to sleep. id stay there again if i went back.Stairs is very steep. like climbing a mountain. i fell going up it when we arrived. lol.Mauro

I had a double room for 100e and it was clean and comfortable. plenty of space and with your own clean bathroom. the breakfast was fair. excellent position. i will definitely recommend it.On saturday i heard somebody shouting & burping in the hall. then they're speaking loudly & banging their door room 4 a while. i was not surprise to find out they were english....Andrea Higgins

The imperial hotel is in a fantastic location between central station (near anne frank heis) and leis square (near van gogh museum), red light district is walking distance but far enough away not to cause you any problems! its a fair walk to tourist places but takes minutes on the fantsticly regular tram service. its surrounded by shops and places to eat, but you don't hear any noise from the back of the hotel, to be honest it wasn't even noisey outside when we were there. the room was basic but all you need for a weekend in dam, its not all smiles and how was your day from the staff, but they are polite. breakfast is just basic, cerael, toast, cheese & ham. not as nice as a fry up but it filled a hole!
there is a night club opposite, not worth a visit scruffy inside and 30 euro's for four drinks!!! i don't think this is a clubbers hotel, more couples and tourists! i would stay there again if i were to return to amsterdam.Anonymous

Excellent location, right next to rembrant square and tram stop and within 10min walk of dam square. the key swipe makes it very easy to come and go at all hours. the hotel will organise a taxi from the airport for you at a cost of 44 euro - but ensure you clarify where the taxi driver is to meet you (tho it is much easier to grab a train from schiphol to amsterdam centraal then take tram 9 to the square).It is stated in the hotel documentation that they exchange currency yet when i tried i was informed they do not exchange. when i quieried this they said they didn't even know the exchange rate despite a board of rates on the wall behind them. if you have a front facing room you will pick up the noise of the clubbers at night.
