The Marnix Hotel Amsterdam is a two star hotel located in the centre of Amsterdam, 200 meters from Leidseplein, Amsterdam's leisure area and a five minutes walk from the main museums. The hotel has 25 rooms, twins and triples. Most of them have showers and toilets, but some have shared facilities. All rooms have their own water tap and sink. The Marnix Hotel Amsterdam is a small and comfortable hotel designed for leisure and business purposes, offering attractive prices. The concept is to provide the customer with nice, clean, quiet and friendly accommodation at a reasonable price, because they believe you should not spend too much on accommodation while you only need a suitable place to spend your nights in Amsterdam. Marnix hotel is located 200 meters from Leidseplein, Amsterdam’s leisure area, 5 minutes walk from the main museums and the Vondel park.

From CS you can take tram no. 1,2 or 5 to Leidseplein or take tram no. 17 to Elandsgracht .
From leidseplein you walk straigt on and go right at the first corner, that is already the Marnixstreet, then you walk to the hotel at no.382

From Elandsgracht, if you have step out of the tram you walk back to the big street, that is already the Marnixstreet, go to the right, then you walk to the hotel at no.382

How do I get to the Marnix City Centre Hotel by public transport? :

1) From SCHIPHOL AIRPORT: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the Airport to Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the Central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2)

2) From CENTRAL STATION: You can take tram: 1, 2 and from the square in front of the station to the Prinsengracht/Leidsestraat. From there you can walk to the hotel +/- 5 min. the trams in Amsterdam are running normaly from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM

The staff was good and the value for money is alright.
The hotel room was too small and looks very awfull and aswell the common sitting place.the breakfast place was bad aswell as there are cats moving around and full of bad smell.

Super nice personnel. very helpful and down-to-earth. i underbooked our stay, and they found us another hotel and even made the reservation.
No tv, no wash cloths (rags), one towel per person...with no wash cloth, no air conditioner, no heat, no proper bed attire. beds have sleeping bag type cover that is too short and doesn't fit you at all. lighting in rooms is very poor.

One staff rude. we had to change room after the first night poor value for money breakfast facilities and quality poor - we decided to have breakfast at a cafe instead hotel badly maintained

Good location, easy to get to places and staff were quite freindly.
Terriible conditions of rooms with mould around the rooms and showers. found used condoms near my bed and was not the best smelling room.

Staff were friendly and the location was adequate.
The rooms we had requested were not avaliable so our group could not be together. 1 room also had dubious stains on the bed sheets

There were no positive experiences, a prison cell looked better than my room which had a double bed, a sink, and a little table and of course filthy net curtains. i have seen better places in many the third world poor hotels.
Rude staff, huge laudry bags blocking the stairway, paint on the carpets, its in a great location they need to get their act together, unfortunately i can only recommend this hotel to the homeless.

Breakfast better than web comments suggested.
Mistake with the booking meant i had 4 bedded room where i booked twin and other guests were on floor outside the room. website said beds in 8 bed dorm were approx 300 euros per night...i suspect a fault in the site?
