Hotel Nicolaas Witsen is a 3-star hotel in a beautiful and quiet street in the centre of Amsterdam, called the Nicolaas Witsenstraat. The three buildings in which the hotel is situated are built in 1906 and have a beautiful historical character.
Hotel Nicolaas Witsen lies in a beautiful and quiet street on the edge of the centre of Amsterdam. The location is ideal for both cultural visits, and for business trips, to Amsterdam.
The hotel has 28 rooms that can all be reached by elevator. All rooms are non-smoking. There is a hotel bar where breakfast is served. After a busy day you can relaxed and enjoy a drink here as well.
We serve a continental breakfast in the morning from 7.15 to 10.30, which means: coffee and/or tea, orange juice, several types of bread, boiled egg, several types of meats, cheese, jam, honey, butter, peanut butter and chocolate spread.

Hotel Nicolaas Witsen has an ideal location. Within 300 metres you can find the best-known market of Amsterdam, the Albert Cuyp-market, and the Heineken Museum. The royal theatre Carré is only 500 metres from the hotel. The ‘Rijksmuseum’, the Van Goghmuseum and well-known entertainment-centres, such as the Leidseplein or Rembrandtplein, you can find at less than 700 metres from the hotel.
How to reach the hotel?1) From SCHIPHOL AIRPORT: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the Airport to Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the Central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2)
2) From CENTRAL STATION: You can take tram: 4 from the square in front of the station to the Frederiksplein. From there you can walk to the hotel +/- 2 min. the trams in Amsterdam are running normaly from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM

This is a decent hotel in a good position, close to the center of the city. the room was small (one double bed), not much room to walk around, but we spent 90% percent of the time in the city, so it didn't make a difference for us. the room had all the facilities advertised and all were in decent condition. the included breakfast was ok for me, but a few people were saying it's too little; anyway, it's ok to ask for more food if u need it.
The smell of mold in the room the first time we entered it. we left the windows open everytime we went out, so it didn't bother us after that.Henriques

Hotel is very clean. hotel staffs are very helpful. location is perfect (at the heart of amsterdam and only few minutes walking distance to trams #4, #25, #7 and #1. tram#4 will take you to rai convention center and trams#$, 25, 7, 1 will take you the central station which is 15 min away from the airport. so, if you don't mind a small cozy room, the price of 107 euro per day is unbeatable.None.Anonymous

Good value for amsterdam but amsterdam is on the whole poor value for money compared to other european cities (eg rome, florence, barcelona, madrid)
staff were pleasant, friendly and approachable. Breakfast is exactly the same very day. as we were staying for 6 days some choice would have been nice.

I had a small 1 bed room with toilet, shower and tv - it was clean and comfortable. no problems.
good staff who speak english well.
good transport links and the hotel is only a few mins walk from all the fun.
overall good value for money.I have to say that this hotel can be pretty noisey. from my room i could hear a lot of banging when people walk up and down the stairs and people talking in other rooms at times.
most nights i stayed out til stupid o'clock anyway so it was always easy to get to sleep but its the getting woken up around 7-9am every day that started to grind.David King
