Hotel Vijaya is a 1 star hotel, conveniently situated in the centre of Amsterdam. Our Hotel is located in two monumental houses dating back to the 18th century. Only five minutes walking distance from Central Station and Damsquare and 15 minutes from Leidseplein, Rembrantplein. We are near the canal boats, the main shopping streets and the museums.

Indian Restaurant Vijaya is located near central station with the capacity of 38 seats. Our guests will enjoy vast Indian cuisine in the cozy friendly atmosphere with Bollywood music. From famous Indian dishes like tandoori chicken, lam tikka masala, prawn rogan josh to our chefs specialties. You can find famous Indian hospitality during our service.

*How do I get to the Vijaya Hotel by public transport? :

1) From SCHIPHOL AIRPORT: Every 20 minutes there is a train running from the Airport to Central Station. When you arrive at the airport and you reach the central hall there is a big sign with the train information. The trains to the Central station are running from 05:40 AM to 00:30 AM (go to step 2)

2) From CENTRAL STATION: You dont have take the tram, you can walk to the hotel +/- 5 min. the trams in Amsterdam are running normaly from: 07:00 AM to 01:00 AM

There is always somebody on reception 24hrs, and the cleaning is done daily of your room. also breakfast being included was a great bonus and saved the hassle of finding a place which opened before 10 and served breakfast.

A good basic hotel very close to central station (5 mins walk), definitely worth it for travellers on a budget. breakfast was included in the price (served 7am til 10am) but our late night schedules meant we never quite made it before the 10am cut off! we stayed in the quad room which had 4 single beds and we just about had enough space although finding a home for 4 suitcases was tricky! the location was perfect right on the edge of the red light district and a great base for exploring the rest of the city. the staff were friendly and efficient and the door to street was kept locked at night so the place felt secure. the hotel also offers residents a 10% discount for their indian restaurant downstairs. all in all a good value choice for people looking for a basic hotel to use as a base for their trip.
The only negative thing about this hotel was the room temperature - there was no air con and it did get very hot at night - there was a fan supplied in the room but it wasn't very efective. even with the window open all night the room was still hot.

Friendly staff and no curfew, with a good location was about all this hotel had going for it although we did manage to pay and get into the room quickly, and security was good with a manned night door.
Lots of negatives, the hotel room was dirty, there was lots of dried blood on a couple of the mattresses and burn holes in the bedding. the shower was grimy but usable although could not be adjusted. the television was broken and the window had to be propped open. the other guests were loud and disturbing. certainly not worth the money we paid for the room, was aware of it's one star status but would have expected more from a room at this price, or a lower price for the same standard. we were not told that the fourth and fifth bed were bunk-beds, luckily one of our party could not make it in the end otherwise it may have been a little tight.

Room was clean and bedding was clean. upon arrival, found that the hotel also owned an indian restaurant and gave a discount at said restaurant...although i don't eat indian food it was a nice thing to find out. whilst we were having breakfast in the morning, someone came in and made the bed, which i also thought was a nice touch.
I was a little disappointed to find there were no tea and coffee making facilites in the room, especially since going down to reception to get tea or coffee meant negotiating 2 flights of winding and very steep stairs. also the furniture in the room was almost falling apart.

It's near to city center and less than 10min walks from central station. reception staff very friendly and helpful.

I was very shocked at how nice the hotel was for a 1* hotel. the room was a brilliant size for all 5 of us and it was very comfortable. hotel staff were also very friendly. i have recommended the hotel to all of my friends for future and next time i go to amsterdam i will definitely book up at the vijaya hotel. perfect location and there wasn't too much noise either.
