Open from 10 to 6 daily the Stedelijk Museum houses one of Europe's most prestigious showcases for modern and contemporary art forms. Displaying all forms of art but focussing on artists from the second half of the 20th century the Stedelijk is the place to go to see the 'masters of tomorrow' today. A major renovation that should be completed this year has unfortunately moved the original location in city center to the former Post Group at Oosterdokskade, which is located opposite the Maritime Museum. Have no fear though – for once the renovations are completed this year (2006) a fantastic new showcase for the wonderfully comprehensive exhibitions of paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photography, graphic design, applied arts and new media that the Stedelijk is famous for will be open to the public. In the meantime the temporary site can be found at Oosterdokskade 5, (2nd and 3rd floor of the Post-CS Building) 1011 AD Amsterdam. The Stedelijk Museum houses one of the most complete collections of modern art in the Netherlands with permanent exhibitions that focuses on De Stijl, Cobra, Nouveau Realisme, Pop Art, Colorfield Painting, Zero and Minimal Art. Their temporary exhibitions focus on design and applied art.
