Santa Fe is one of Argentinas twenty-three provinces. Its capital is the city of Santa Fe. With a population of more than 450,000, Santa Fe has been called a big city with a small town atmosphere. This 17th century Franciscan monastery is now a museum. It is a beautiful building, with walls more than a meter thick. One monk is still in residence. Another 17th century building houses the Provincial Historical Museum. Here you can see some excellent religious paintings and antique artifacts, as well as a viceroys sedan chair. At Cerveceria Santa Fe, the citys own brewery, you can have a tour of the plant and sample Santa Fe Lager. The children will love the Granja La Esmeralda, a small experimental zoo that exhibits toucans, pumas, jaguars and a giant ant-eater.
