Hawkesbury River Railway Bridge Sydney

The Hawkesbury River Railway Bridge reaches over the river of the same name and connects Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane together. There were actually two bridges with the first being completed in 1886 by the Union Bridge Company of New York. This first bridge was an engineering marvel but do to overuse this first bridge required strengthening until cracks were discovered in the 1930s and a replacement was deemed necessary.  The second bridge was not finished until 1946 six year after initial construction began.
