The Royal National Park is considered to be one of the best national park in Australia and is very popular with hikers and campers. Established in 1879 the Royal National Park is one of the oldest of its kind and has enjoyed its popularity since that time. Originally named The National Park, the area was renamed in honor of Elizabeth II who toured the park in the 1950's. The Royal National Park has several varying terrains from the high plateaus to the coastal region and is home to several unique flora and fauna. Some of the different terrains include the Coastal heathland, Exposed uplands, and valley sides and each feature their own distinctive sights and sounds.
The Royal National Park is much loved by hikers and mountain bikers who are given several paths of varying skills. The beaches are open to the public though there are some who are naturist beaches so take care if this is something you do not care for. The Royal National Park is great for a simple day trip or for a camping adventure.
