Our favourite hotels near Emperor Franz Josef Museum

In the town of Baden bei Wien, you will find a museum dedicated to the emperor Franz Josef I. It gained his royal permission to bear his name. It stands on Hochstraße in the Kurpark. Both the building and the museum it holds are worth visiting if you happen to be in the area.

The architects of the Museum were Karl Reiner and Karl Badstieber. They constructed it on the behalf of the Friends of Lower Austria. The structure opened in 1905. Orignially, the museum held the collections of several local researchers. They included Carl and Gustav Calliano, Anton Schiestl and Johann Wagenhofer. Much of their collection, however, was lost during the fallout of WW II. It now exists as an exhibition hall for local craft and art work. It also contains a fascinating collection of banknotes, arms and Hapsburg memorabilia from the 17th to the 20th centuries. You can also see a reconstructed village.
