Graz does have several museums that are not boring or tedious for children. The Children’s Museum on Friedrichgasse is one museum designed specifically for their enjoyment. The Fairy-Tale Grotto Railway Line is another example where children can have fun. One more suggestion for those who are travelling with kids in Graz is the MUWA. In fact, children will enjoy the museum while adults can appreciate the building housing it.

The MUWA sits on the bank of the Mu River surrounded by the Augarten. It is in an Octagonal building, an interesting change from the usual shape you find in Graz and elsewhere in Austria. It is home to two different kinds of amusements. For children and some adults, the main draw is the actual Museum der Wahrnehmung (MUWA) – the Museum of Perception. There is one permanent exhibition. It uses various means of illusion and explores various human sensory fallibility. There is a mixed-identity mirror and many illusory or sensory tricks to validate the premise. If this does not interest you, let the children explore while you go down to the cellar. Here, you will find the vestiges of the original usage of this building – an Indian Shamadi bath.
