You can locate the Grazer Stadtmuseum or City Museum, on Sackstrasse. It occupies the old Palasi Khuenberg. This had been home to the Archduke Franz Ferdinand – he who lost his life to an assassin in 1914, resulting in World War I. The museum, however, does not focus on his life. While there is one exhibit that follows Franz Ferdinand’s life and the tragic consequences of his death, the Museum looks, instead, at the history of the city of Graz.

The story of Graz is told through a multi-media approach. This is “Multivision.” Another permanent exhibit is a pharmacy. This room is a recreation of a pharmacy from the Biedermeir period. For those who like a more hands-on experience, the museum offers a lithographic workshop. Local historic clubs and those interested in different facets of history can attend a variety of open forums and workshops. There are also various temporary exhibits. These are usually on local individuals, industries or related subjects.
