In Graz, there are many beautiful stores in which to go shopping. You can buy expensive items at specialty shops or one of a kind designer, boutiques. You can also go to a flea market. The city has shopping malls as modern as any North American city. Yet, if you wish to pick up an authentic Graz or Austrian souvenir, it is better if you go to Heimatwerk Shops

The Heimatwerk stores feature only hand crafted items. These are regional products, not mass produced items. None of them bear the mark of a factory producer in or outside of Austria. These are original and traditional handcrafted goods. They are, as a result, a perfect souvenir of your visit to Graz. Look for traditional skirts, dirndls and other pieces of clothing. Pick something in wrought iron. Look for painted pottery and printed linen. Cowbells are also a favorite as are plateware. Heimatwerk has two stores near the Folklore Museum. Before you shop, you may want to have a look at the originals.
