The ancient town of Horn, Austria, was called the “Protestant Rome of the Waldviertel” (the name given to the northeastern part of Austria) during the Reformation. It was the base for a Protestant League of nobles who opposed the Habsburg Archduke (later emperor) Matthias. Nearby is the parish church of St. Stephen. It has a decorative pulpit from 1500, and 14th century cross-vaulting.
