In the past, there were glaciers slicing their way slowly across the land. As they went, they made deep gouges into the landscape, reforming in and creating mountains. When the ice of these giants melted, it left behind lakes ands rivers. One of these rivers is the Schinderbach River. Over the past few centuries, it has continued the work of the glaciers by cutting its way further into the Austrian landscape near Imst.

Not very far from the center of the town, Imst, you can admire this force of nature in all in its beauty and its power. This is the Rosengarten Gorge. It twists and turns as the Schinderbach river cuts its way through down towards the Johnneskirche (St. John’s Church) and away from the Blue Grotto. The length of the gorge is some 200 meters. Watch the water flow and see the power of the river as year after year it continues to extend the length and depth of the Rosengarten Gorge.
