There are many different types of museums. In Austria, you can find both passive and interactive types of the museum-experience. There are beer or wine museums and tobacco museums. There are mine museums and farm museums. In Fulpme, there is also a Blacksmith Museum. It takes you back to a past when the Blacksmith was the most important craftsman in town.

The Blacksmith Museum or Schmiedemuseum is open only during the summers. You can locate it in the old “Riedlhaus.” This blacksmith shop is in the old Riedl blacksmithy. Once an operational blacksmith shop, it now provides visitors with the chance to see how such a shop operated. The contents include several old smithy tools. There is a blacksmith’s hammer dating from 1836. There is also a 1812 grinding machine. You can see the shop, admire these tools and watch the operation of a four-hammer machine or grinder. The grinder is powered by water from the nearby brook, the Schlicker Bach.
