The work on the Katherinenkirche concluded in 1365. This town church became adapted over the years. This included alterations in the 17th century to its interior. The church has never been popular. There were many other options in the city. Today, it has found another calling. After restoration work in 1950, the church became a Memorial Church.

The Church of St. Catherine is now a memorial to those who fought in the wars, particularly World War II. A carillon located in the tower calls out to the people every day. At 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. the bells remind all who hear to think about those who fought and died during the war. If you do enter the church, take the time to light a candle for the warriors. Also, stop and admire the 16th century winged altar. It has depictions of St. Anne, St. Christopher and St. Florian on the main piece. On the wings of the altar, you can see the images of St. Denis and St. Sebastian.
