This church in Kitzbühe, the Liebfrauenkirche, dates from the 13th century. Reconstruction took place over the years. The tower and church combined particularly reveal its mixed architectural heritage. The tower is from the late 13th century. The rest of the church is from 1570. Both sections demonstrate the effects of the Baroque face lift occurring between the years 1735 and 1738.
The most obvious characteristic of the church is the discrepancy between the tall tower and the short church. The tower is sturdy and square, very Romanesque-Gothic. The stonework is by S. B. Faistenberger. The interior frescoes date from 1735. They feature the coronation of the Virgin, Virgin Mary as the Protector of Mankind and St. Mary and St. David. Over the organ loft, you can view one of the best creations of Faistenbeger, King David. Above the altar is a copy of an art piece by Lukas Cranach you can locate in the Innsbruck Stadtpfarrkirche - Our Lady of Succour.
