Pros: Excellent hotel with well fitted out rooms to a very high standard. lacks a restaurant but compensates by a rooftop cocktail bar and breakfast lounge with excellent views of the city.

Pros: I was revisiting the hotel after 33 years and booked it for its roof-top terrace. the terrace was closed for two nights for a provate party--too bad they didn't tell me this in advance. they did up-grade my room to a very nice suite however.
Those seeking superb quality accommodation would be hard pressed to find a better option than the 4-star Hotel Stein. This hotel is a sizeable accommodation with an extensive selection of rooms. Salzburg Train Station makes for simple accesibility to the surrounding area. Salzburg Airport poses little problem to reach from here. It's no struggle reaching Mirabell Palace from here; it's also simple to walk to Hohensalzburg Fortress and Marionette theater. From this hotel, Holy Trinity Church is easy to get to. Museum choices close by include Mozart's Residence and Mozart's Birthplace.
