There are several places for a fan of Mozart to visit when they come to Salzburg. After seeing his birthplace on Getreidegasse, you may want to wander through the home of his young adult years. This is possible by going to Makartplatz. At number eight Makartplatz, Mozart and his family made their home for the next seven years of his life. The house is the Tanzmeisterhaus. Although destroyed during WWII, it has been restored completely, a replica from the original design plan.

The Tanzmeisterhaus was the family home. It was, also, where Mozart composed many of his works. From his pen flew several symphonies, numerous serenades and a few divertimenti. In these rooms, Mozart composed five violin concertos as well as several concertos for piano. You can wander through the rooms and see exact duplicates of instrument once played by Mozart. There are also memorabilia and documents connected with Mozart and his family, including a film and aural collection
