If you have children and want to entertain them, there are a few places you can in Salzburg. Some are almost mandatory. A tour of Salzburg should always include the Marionette Theater and the Toy Museum. You can find the Spielzeugmuseum (Toy Museum) in the historic Baroque building, the Bürgerspital, once a hospital. A lovely structure with covered arcades and a hidden courtyard.

The Toy Museum provides a wide selection of toys for you to look at. It is for children, but engages everyone’s inner child. There are cuddly teddy bears and baby-faced dolls. You can see model railway train sets and wooden sailing ships. You can see toys constructed from metal, porcelain, china and wood. There are toys covering the last 250 years. You can wander through the entire collection. If you time your visit correctly, you may be able to watch a special puppet show. It is similar to a Punch and Judy Show and just as entertaining.
