Austria is a country of more than mountains. It has some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world. You can locate several of them in the area in and around the town of Bad Gastein. Of particular spectacular wonder is the Bad Gastein Waterfall. It is not only a natural wonder, but is also the emblem of the town.

The Bad Gastein Waterfall is close to the town. In fact, some of the older hotels from the city’s Belle Epoque of the 19th century, hang close to the edge where the water falls. The Bad Gastein Waterfall is on the Gasteiner Ache. Water rushes down from the Hohe Tauern National Park to feed the waterfall. The drop of the water comprising Gastein Fall is some 341 meters in total. The water, however, cascades down in three stages. The middle fall measures some 58m (175’) while the lower fall is 63m or 185’. To obtain the best view, walk onto Steinbrücke Bridge. It is a stone bridge dating back to 1840.
