The village of Kleinarl, in the Salzburg region of Austria, is known mainly for its location in the center of Austria’s largest winter sports resort area, known as the Ski Amadé. Kleinarl, with its modestly-sized local hill, is a perfect base camp for excursions to the surrounding 860 km of downhill runs and 220 km of cross-country ski trails. Other popular activities around Kleinarl include summer and winter hiking, biking, and ice climbing. In the winter a ski bus makes the rounds of the village, and it is often possible to ski straight to one’s Kleinarl hotel right from the mountain.
