Sankt Johann im Pongau is a town in the Austrian province of Salzburg, and capital of the Pongau district. In June of 2000 the town received the official designation of city from the Austrian government. If you like natural beauty then don't miss seeing the Liechensteinklamm gorge. The gorge is at the south end of the city and is approached by walkways which were built in 1875 by Johann II of Liechtenstein. In the north end of the city you can see a memorial where there was a POW camp in World War II containing mostly Russian prisoners and run by the Germans.
