The town of Sankt (St.) Pölten has a wonderful museum. The Landesmuseum or NÖ Landesmuseum is a Provincial Museum. It resides in a new structure built by Hans Hollein. This is a museum which focuses not strictly on the past. It looks towards the future.

The Museum is a multimedia exploration of history, nature and art. It is a great place to bring your children. They can visit the Museum Lab with its computer workstations. They can also look in awe at the huge aquariums. These are part of the museum’s focus and thematic link among all the exhibits – water. The Water Theme is used in describing Austria’s development, culturally, economically and environmentally. You can also look at the many species of flora and fauna. The museum even has gardens, raising 300 and more historical, rare and non-native plants in its immediate area. In the museum, while the children play with the computer systems, you can admire the art collection. The works cover the period from the Middle Ages to contemporary.
