The Albertina, named for Duke Albert, is the former residence of Maria Christina. She was the favorite daughter of Maria Teresa. While living here, Maria Christina and her husband amassed a large collection of original drawings. You can view these works, together with other additions, housed in this place, the Albertina.You can divide your visit to the Albertina essentially into three components. There is the actual structure. You can wander throughout the State Rooms in all their pristine white marble. You can also come to watch a movie at the Albertinas cinema or look at the papyrus collection on loan from the Austrian National Library. Usually, people come to see the artwork. There are more than 50,000 works in this collection. The amount means the exhibits are ever changing and temporary. Nevertheless, you will get to see some of the best sketches, drawings and watercolors by the masters. There are selections by Durer, Leonardo da Vinci, Picasso, Rembrandt, Rubens, Michelangelo, Raphael and Klimt.
