The church of St. Nicholas, in Mittersill in the Salzburger region, is located on the east edges of town away from the pfarrkirche. Originally, this religious edifice was part of the Schloss Mittersill – now home to a museum and other associations. St. Nicholas church is the oldest church in the village of Mittersill. It has roots in the Romanesque period of architecture. It retains a Romanesque kern. The substantial part of the current structure, however, dates from around 1750.
