Ayre Hotel Gran Vía Barcelona

Window in room wouldn't open all the way. bed was on wheels for some strange reason ;). put do not disturb sign up on the door maids tend to clean the rooms early.

Too expensive. it was necessary to upgrade to a junior suite because the rooms were not to the standard i expected. breakfast not very appetising (please - fresh coffee!). the bar is not a place you would want to spend any time.

Road noise was quiet bad, next to a main road. window wouldnt seal closed properly, which made it worse.

Our flight home was late on in the evening and we had to check out at 12 lunchtime, there were no facilities made available to have a wash, shower or get changed which was dissapointing.

We hought the prices in the resteraunt were too high 1.75 euros for a small bread roll is too much and as the maincourse included no vegetables only meat and a little sauce poor value we would not stay here again

Just a little thing, the cleanliness of the bedroom wasnt great!

The only thing i could possibly say is that the hotel was overpriced for its proximity to the city.

Asked for a quiet room with a view. got a quiet room but the view was of the center courtyard from the eighth floor and banks of windows of other rooms in the hotel, not much of a view. a street view that high up would have been quiet enough, and besides, the windows were closed so noise wouldn't have been a factor.

The only disappointing factor was no tea or coffee making facilities in the hotel room

Reception staff wasnt very informative, i had to ask the direction to my room!

Whilst in barcelona i had my wallet stolen (on the metro) and could not pay for my room. i made arrangements with my fiancee to pay for the room on his credit card. this was done with minimum fuss and the staff were very good with me. however, because i only had 2.80 euros on me, i did not have enough cash to buy any food for the remainder of my stay, or enough cash to pay to get to the airport. i asked the concierge to add 50 euros to the bill (which would have gone on the credit card) to give to me in cash. they said they could not do this as the invoice amount would not match the credit card transaction. i understood this and asked that the invoice show '50 euros cash advance as wallet was stolen' and they would not do this. thankfully i was not there alone and could ask my colleagues for a cash advance from them - which was embarassing by the way. what would i have done if i was alone? can i suggest for the future, that this is a service that you (and all hoteliers) could offer those who have been in that situation? it would certainly help victims of crime, and if you are worried about credit card fraudsters - haven't you got insurance against that kind of thing anyway?

We arrived to the hotel and was meet by a busy staff. a bellboy took us to the room (608) - as soon as he had left, we found that the room wasn't cleaned after the last guest. bins full of garbage, bedsheets creased, tv didnt work on intl programs. we immidiately ran down to reception....they took us to another room, but not as nice as 608. so we decided to wait for the room to be cleaned. we waited in the bar and had a drink on the house. we then checked in at the room at 19 - we first came to the hotel at 17. tv didnt work, but worked the next day. on the day after we left for sightseeing at 12 noon, we left the "pls makeup room" on the door. coming back at 17 the room wasnt cleaned !!!! i called the reception and a cleaner was sent to the room. we waited as she cleaned. to book a 4 star hotel, thing are not supposed to be like that.......the staff was helpful and solved the problems, but still not good enough for a 4 star. we were quite dissapointed ! there were sand on the carpet outside the room, due to the beach volley competion nearby, and everybody staying at the ayre.....

No iron in room, no bath tub, no gowns, poor tv channels, needs more english channels

I couldn't connect wi-fi in my room. the single bedroom is small.

The aircon wasn't functioning properly in my room
