Description
The Hostal Opera, as the name indicates, is a hostel; therefore, one cannot expect the same luxuries as those offered by some of the other establishments located in the city centre. However, the Hostal Opera is an excellent option for guests who are willing to forego some of the more elaborate and refined details but still want an ideal, central location.
Located on Carrer Sant Pau, almost at the corner of the famous Rambla, the hostel is close to important tourist attractions like the Boqueria Market and the Gran Teatre del Liceu (one of the absolutely essential gems for any travel photo album).
During the day, it is the perfect place from which to embark on a number of routes, especially those covering the Gothic Quarter, the Raval or the Born. At night the environment can be rather colourful, depending on the moment, but it hosts one of the largest concentrations of bars and restaurants in the entire city.
The hostel itself is simple and excellent value for money. Although it offers no frills, the reasonable rate you pay for a double room right next to the Rambla is a major incentive for choosing this hostel as accommodation during your stay in Barcelona.

Not onyl a hundred metres from la rambla, but you can't hear a thing from it either. all shops and restaurants you would need are right there, excellent location.

One of the desk clerks was very helpful with directins and recommendations. convenient location, luggage storage available before check-in, and lobby lift so not necessary to lug bags up four flights of stairs.Walls are paper thin so even normal conversations in adjoining rooms took place in our room, no ac turned on first week of june so room did not have air circulation, shower curtain too small and water always got on the floor, mattresses are thin, wiry and uncomfortable.Anonymous

I stayed at the hostal opèra and i have found it very comfortable, very close to the ramblas and the rooms clean. moreover, the staff was always very polite and kind with us.

For the price of the hotel, you get a very nice and clean room. nice staff. excellent location, just 100meters of teh center of the ramblas.Not much facilities, but what would you expect for the price. by the way there is good tv and free internetconnection in the lounche.Anonymous

I simply adore this hotel! starting with the excellent position, just on la rambla, kindly and very helpful staff, very clean room, and finishing with their care for preserving the environment! i am allergic on dust and i was really very happy with the room which is spacious enough but without unnecessary carpets and furniture. there is no breakfast served at the hotel, but there are so many shops and restaurants around la rambla and the main market is only a few steps away. there is no tv in the room, but i was on business trip in barcelona and every free time i was out exploring the city. there is a fine big room with a big tv in the lobby of the hotel which is enough for somebody who have time to watch it. anyway i have to congratulate the owners of the hostal opera on their managing it lake their own home and to recommend it to everybody who is coming to barcelona on business trip! remember: you get much more than you pay!There is only one thing missing for me - internet in the room. there are internet facilities at the lobby and free wireless internet access if you have your own computer, but still, it will be good to have it at the room.MARGELY

Very central location, next to opera lyceu and the busy la rambla. standard rooms clean. there are lockers where you can leave your luggage in case of early arrival.The walls are made of plaster board, therefore the noice of next door rooms is annoying. you could hear doors opening, banging, chatting of people, etc.Carolyn

Hotel's location was great, just steps away from the "happening" ramblas. near to the market, gothic quarters and placa catalunya (where you can take the airport bus). hotel is clean and well-maintained although it has very basic facilities. recommended only if you don't plan to stay in room whole day as there is no tv in room and absolute no view from the window.Tamara Renouf

Right in the centre of where you want to be in the city, easy, clean, everything you need... couldnt expect more for the price in a prime location.Wish there was a tv in the room! lol
