Description
An absolute bargain-basement of a hotel situated in one of the prime areas of real estate in Barcelona, on the café-lined Rambla de Catalunya, and just a few minutes’ walk from Plaza Catalunya and the Ramblas themselves, the Hostal Residencia Neutral’s ridiculously low prices would make it an ideal stop-over for anyone on a shopping trip who wants to splurge on the clothes, and not the hotel, and yet be within one minutes’ walking distance of the designer-laden shops on Passeig de Gracia. Or indeed, an ideal hotel for anyone who’d rather save on the frilly bits and spend their cash on having a good time instead! With the standards of a good one star-hotel, the hostal has 28 clean, high-ceilinged rooms, all with central heating and a fan for the summer, as well as TV, telephone and a safety-deposit box at an additional 1.50 euros per day. This being a converted family flat, there’s also a lounge area with TV and a selection of books in English for guests to borrow, and a large, old-fashioned dining room, that serves a continental breakfast at just 5 euros a head. The highly-personable receptionist will also happily advise you on restaurants to suit every taste and pocket. Understandably enough, the hostal is very popular, so it’s advisable to book well in advance.
