Hotel Jardi is located between two quiet placas in Barcelona's Gothic quarter. Even the taxi driver from the airport had a little trouble finding it at first, but they provided a map which helped a great deal. Ask for an outside room, and you have your own private balcony with a picture post card view. (You can see other tourists walking by, and the look on their face clearly indicates that they think you spent a LOT more on your room then you did.) 'Inside' rooms are a lot more spartan, and I wouldn't recommend them. It appears the only meal they serve at the restaurant is breakfast, but it is a great way to start the day. You can sit outside in the sunshine and watch a neighborhood greet the dawn as it has for centuries.The only automobile traffic allowed in the area are emergency vehicles (infrequent) and the early morning delivery vans for the shops and restaurants that face the placas. You are located a block or so from the Ramabalas, and about 2 blocks from the main Cathedral. You are also just a short walk from the Quatres Gatos, a coffee shop where Picasso spent part of his youth.
