The Ramblas is Barcelona’s centerpiece, the kilometer-long pedestrian boulevard located near the Hotel 1898 Barcelona which runs from Placa Cataluna to the Columbus statue. By car:
Take the C-32b highway towards Barcelona. Divert onto Barcelona-Girona-Lleida-Tarragona-Gran Via-Ciutat Vella and enter the city. Once in Gran Via avenue, you will find an underpass (Plaça d'Espanya square). At the tunnel exit, keep on the right lane. Continue on to Balmes street and make a right. Follow until you reach the end of the Balmes street and take the right lane of the Pelai street. At the end of the street, turn right onto La Rambla. Go on for 500 meters. The Hotel 1898 is just at the corner between La Rambla and Pintor Fortuny streets. To access at the hotel's parking or at the reception, make a turn and take the Pintor Fortuny street. Stop at the hotel's dropped kerb, at your left hand side.
By public transport:
From the airport: take the train service at the airport and step off at Sants Estació station. From there, you can take the underground L3 green line towards Canyelles and get off at Catalunya. Take La Rambla and walk for 500 meters. The Hotel 1898 is just at the corner between La Rambla and Pintor Fortuny streets.
By airplane:
From Barcelona-El Prat airport: take the Aerobús shuttle and step off at Plaça Catalunya. Follow La Rambla and walk for around 500 meters. The Hotel 1898 is just at the corner of the La Rambla street with Pintor Fortuny street.
From the Girona airport: coming from the AP-18 highway, enter Barcelona and go on until you reach Balmes street. Take Pelai street keeping on the right. At the end of this street, make a right and continue for about 500 meters. The Hotel 1898 is just at the corner between La Rambla and Pintor Fortuny streets.

We felt our stay was very private. we were never bothered by other people's noise. the roof terrace isn't done justice in the hotel description - it is fabulous and we really relaxed there, enjoying the sunshine and again the privacy. lovely rooms. 
Our room wasn't ready when we arrived so couln't check in until 3.45. staff not overly helpful considering the price of the rooms e.g asked if they served coffee at roof terrace bar and i just got a "no" rather than alternatives being suggested or advice on where i could get one in the hotel! Anonymous

Fantastic hotel! very modern, perfect location with easy access to many attractions barcelona has to offer. the rooftop bar and pool was excellent for taking in views over the city. the hotel offered mid-morning tea and free wireless internet access. on thursday nights there is a live jazz band. overall wonderful experience. Staff very friendly, hotel very clean and beautifully decorated, spa was lovely and great view from the roof top pool bar.
Our air conditioning was not working. not a huge problem in april, but the room was still stuffy. complained about it 5 times, twice someone was sent to fix it (but it never cooled down). would have liked to have been moved to another room - did receive a discount off the bill though as compensation.
