Description
The Gran Hotel Havana Barcelona is a first class hotel extended and upgraded to deluxe in 1991, and completely redecorated in 2002. Its location is the Casa L. Fradera, a historic building dating from 1882. On Barcelona's Gran Vía, the hotel is right in the centre of the city, only a step away from the most emblematic buildings of Gaudí, the mythical Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter.
This duality of the Gran Hotel Havana is typical of Barcelona, where tradition and the avant-garde coexist happily together. Which explains this 19th-century building with a 21st-century interior. Also how its modern concept of service is based on traditional ideas of hospitality.

If you take the airport train or bus, get off at Plaza Calatunya.

By car:
From the north (Girona): If arriving by the Ap-7, look for the junction with the Ap-17 then continue towards Barcelona Centre. Continue along Calle Aragón, and when you reach Calle Bruc, turn left. The hotel parking site is located in this street, a few metres from the junction with Gran Vía, on the left.
From the south (Lleida-Tarragona): If arriving by the Ap-7, follow the directions for Barcelona-Gran Vía. You enter the city along Gran Vía and keep straight on. The hotel is on your left, two streets away from Paseo de Gracia. To leave your car at our parking site, go past the hotel and turn left at the first junction (Calle Girona), turn left (Calle Diputación), and first left again (Calle Bruc). Our parking site is located in this street, on the left, a few metres away from the junction with Gran Vía.

very clean hotel room we were staying on the 6th floor room 609 with a balcony.staff was very friendly and helpful to.
i would probably stay in the same hotel next time im in barcelona.We booked the superior room and they gave us the wrong room to start with, but soon as i told them they gave us a superior in the 6th floor.dont understad why they trying to do when people know what room they have booked.Anonymous

This hotel was awesome! the location was just outside the "hustle and bustle" but close enough to walk to everything. good location to transportation. walk to cafes, market, sites, shopping--i felt very safe and the swimming pool was a bonus for relaxation after all that sightseeing!Absolutely no complaints!Anonymous

We made the most of the summer special offer, where our third night was given at a reduced rate. we stayed in a lovely room on the 5th floor, where we could help ourselves to complimentry croissants and coffee in the morning. the room was beautiful and had everything we needed and more.
including towling robes and slippers! the swimming pool and terrace were great. The bar and resturaunt were very expensive, but there were some lovely little places a short walk away.
also there was a rumbling noise which we could hear in the room every so often. i think it was the trains from the underground. but it didnt really upset our stay!Anonymous

I realised on arrival that i stayed here 14 years ago but when thinking back to my previous stay in barcelona i recalled the location and facilties as very good but couldn't recall the name of the hotel - so it was a very pleasant surprise to be back again at this hotel by accident. the rooms are much brighter than 14 yrs ago, the room service is excellent, very clean rooms, helpful and attentive staff - nothing is a problem - does feel they have been well trained in customer relations. nice touches with soaps and gels etc in bathroom. good location - about 5-10 minute walk to the ramblas, 10 min walk from bus station, and metro station about 3 min walk away. we walkes to picasso museum in 20 mins. the pool on the roof was smallish but very refreshing and a great place to chill ut between 3-6pm before hitting the city for the evening. there are tapas bars and restaurants all within 10 mins on foot in each direction.The only negative was the noise of the main road outside - there is a taxi rank outside the hotel and the drivers arrive early and seem to talk very loudly and woke me up every day. but the soundproofing probably couldn't be bettered in the rooms and you have to accept that probably there are no places quiet in a city like barcelona - this negative did not detract from the fact that i would rcommend this hotel and its location to anyone wanting a few days break in a good place in a great city.Anonymous

We thought that the hotel was excellent and in a great location. the reception staff was very helpful with organising tours for us. there was also a jazz & swing night on the roof terrace and we received drinks vouchers for this.The breakfast is very expensive for what you get. we had breakfast in bed one morning and it wasn't good value. although, the complimentary coffee and pastries on our floor was a nice touch. at times the walls seemed quite thin and we could hear our neighbours. but we would definitely go back.Anonymous

The hotel is very central, the building is an impressive design. although our hotel room was quite small it was very clean with nice modern furnishings.Having read other reviews i was anxious about noise that was noted from rooms on lower levels so i requested a room on the 6th floor prior to my stay and received room 125 which i thought i'd give a try. unfortunately we were woken up each morning at 7am by what sounded like the maid/cleaner making continous noise with their cleaning buckets! this lasted for about hour & half each morning. i think the price of the hotel is very high, the third night at 180 euros should have included the pricey breakfast, at least.
