Currently 26 acres the Antwerp Zoo will be expanding to 15,000 sq m (another 4 acres) by the year 2017. Of particular interest at the Antwerp Zoo is the Egyptian temple housing giraffes, modeled after the 1854 Egyptian Court at the Crystal Palace in London. This model zoo features a fascinating animal called the Okapi, originally found in the Congo.
