While almost a new kid on the block, the University Hospital Antwerp is 28 years young and proving to be a major force to be reckoned with in the medical community. Recently the University Hospital Antwerp added an exciting new multi-disciplinary center for Screening, Prevention, Research & education and Training & Sports medicine (SPORTS for short). The focus of this new addition SPORTS program is prevention, diagnosis and treatment of top athletes and recreational athletes. Their goal is to become the pinnacle of medical knowledge in this area. The major drive of this program will be to call for an annual mandatory inspection of all top athletes, but at the same time not lose sight of the recreational sports enthusiast.
