The Zurenborg District (a.k.a The Cogels-Osy Lei) in Antwerp, Belgium is the name of an area in the suburb of Berchem. It's fairly close to the Berchem railway station and what you see here is totally amazing. You won't see this anywhere else in Europe. Look around you and you will discover an incredible mixture of architectural styles. Just about every building is different, unique, wildly decorated and worthy of praise. Or, as some have said, worth laughing at for its total hodge podge of styles.

The Zurenborg District isn't that large so you will be able to walk through it in a short time. Just make sure you wander down the various streets to get a really good view of all this eclectic area offers. If you happen to ask where the Zurenborg District is, you might get told it’s the Cogels-Osy Lei, which is actually the name of the main street. Be prepared to see neo-gothic right next door to art nouveau. All of the houses here were built when neo styles were the "IN" thing. And the funny thing is, most of these houses were built to impress from the outside, with the inside being plain Jane modern to tried and true old fashioned. Try to appreciate what you see for what it is – the end of the century style in vogue at the time.
