Antwerpen-Centraal (Antwerp Central) is the main railway station in Belgium. The original building terminus (designed by Louis Delacenserie) was erected between 1895 and 1905 as a replacement for the original terminus of the Brussels-Mechelen-Antwerp Railway. The entrance hall looks a lot like a Taj Mahal with the interior featuring marble and an enormous staircase that makes the whole scene rather reminiscent of a grand castle. The 185m long and 44m high iron and glass trainshed was designed by Clement van Bogaert. Antwerpen-Centraal (Antwerp Central) was actually used in the Brit TV series Hercule Poirot, the famous Begian detective who visited Brussels.

Antwerpen-Centraal (Antwerp Central) is one of the finest examples of railway architecture in Belgium. No longer regarded as merely a terminus, major construction has been ongoing to convert the station to a through station. To that end a new tunnel was excavated between Berchem station in the south of the city and Antwerpen-Dam station in the north. Antwerpen-Centraal (Antwerp Central) now has four levels and 14 tracks.
