Jeanneke Pis is the female counterpart of Manneken Pis in Brussels, Belgium. It doesn't have the same long and distinguised history as does Manneken Pis, and was made in 1985 and erected in 1987, The minute it went up, it became an instant legend all on its own accord. It most definitely amuses those who are walking by the statue. Unfortunately, Jeanneke Pis has not made herself as beloved as her counterpart Manneken Pis, and many citizens of Brussels tend to tolerate her presence rather than embrace her as they have her "brother".
Jeanneke Pis is a half metre high and made out of blue-grey limstone, and depicts a small girl squatting and urinating. Although less well known than Manneken Pis, it does tend to provide moments of comic relief to passersby in Faith Alley (Impasse de la Fidélité / Getrouwheidsgang). Located near the closed end of a street, Jeanneke Pis often does not get an many visitors as her older "brother". Most certainly, she does not have over 500 costumes like Manneken Pis. Nonetheless, she is well worth the visit just to see what all the fuss is about. And of course, taking pictures is "THE" thing to do.
